Yock Meldrum was a woodcarver and boatwright who resided in Mt. Clemens and produced a large body of work during the 1930's. As illustrated by these rare examples, Meldrum's style was realistic but highly stylized in both form and painting technique. Like Hans Janner's fish, Meldrum's were fancifully carved, but with more austerely shaped fins and more realistic bodylines.
